Should I print true digital?

When it comes to brand loyalty, I have always found that I'm definitely one you'd call "loyal" in certain areas.  We all know I'm a Stampin' Up! junquie and totally loyal to the brand.  I'm also loyal to specific brands of mac & cheese, American cheese, snotty nose tissues, bum around sneakers, and jeans.  I am finding that I've also become pretty brand loyal to one particular photo processor who sells pharmaceuticals and is on most local corners in my area whose name starts with a W :)

When printing photos, I've been exercising the option to get a "true digital print" size of 4x5.3.  When you get a 4x6 print, you're actually getting a photo that has been cropped slightly on the 6" side because of the shape of the picture your camera takes naturally.  These true digital prints are not cropped and come out almost ready to pop only a mat that's been made out of a 1/4 sheet of cardstock.  Talk about cool scrappin time savings!  I just have to trim off a touch from the short side.

As I've started to talk about with Scramp Klub, this girl scraps a whole lot better when she can just slap some photos into pre-designed layouts (great gift idea!!)  And...I love making pre-designed layouts with easy to trim mats...i.e. 1/4 sheets of cardstock.  No waste.  No muss.  No fuss.  Scrapbooking made easy.  I bet a whole lot more of you card enthusiasts who claim you "can't" scrapbook would do a lot more of it if you learned how to do a little BAM BAM BAM scrapbooking :)

So, if you haven't tried true digital prints, I would encourage you to give it a shot.  I do know some people who are true 4x6 loyalists and I can totally respect that.  But...I say, don't knock it til you try it.  You might find that you're getting pictures on pages faster like me!

Scrampin' in Extreme Grunge

Last night I got a rare opportunity to spend a few hours in my stamp room doing a little scrapbooking.  I'm heading to a crop this weekend with some friends and I want to have my layouts ready to receive photos. My goal is to get our trip to Wisconsin last year in a book before Saturday night is over.  Meaning...I have lots of layouts to make before I get there.

I decided to use the March Scramp Klub as the inspiration for my pages.  Granted, the colors are different, the layouts are a bit different, and I added an extra stamp set that we won't be using in the klub but the inspiration is there :)  I used Grunge Rock and Extreme Elements to make these layouts.  Cherry Cobbler, Basic Gray, and Basic Black were my colors for this book.  (Pacific Point is the primary color for March Scramp Klub)  These pages turned out just smashingly good!  I'm so excited to get my pictures on these pages!

Now, I just need to make about 6 more layout pages and try not to forget my Notes & Details set for journaling and I should be all set for Saturday night :)

Scramp Klub 2012

Scramp Klub 2012
We’re stamping in our scrapbooks
Beginning February 2012

Love to stamp and create gorgeous cards?  Are you a scrapbooker wanting to expand your collection? New to scrapbooking but ready to learn? No matter where you are in your card making or memory keeping journey, you’ll love this new Kelli’s Korner Klub!  “Scramping” is the art of stamping in a scrapbook, converting card layouts to scrapbook layouts, creating your own stamped backgrounds, and bringing a new element to your stamping hobby!

Each month, we will use a themed stamp set to create a gorgeous card that we will convert to two 12” x 12” page layouts. We will follow up with an optional crop so you can add your own photos or work on additional layouts using the stamp set of the month and my collection of stamps, inks and punches.

The cost of this klub is $35 each month.  Each month you will receive the stamp set of the month (clear mount) and a kit to make the monthly layout (minimum merchandise value of $25).  If you sign up for a 6 month subscription, you will receive an additional $25 in Stampin’ Up! merchandise of your choice during your 6 month subscription.  **Note - If you already own the stamp set of the month, you may choose an alternative stamp set of the same price but you must bring your stamp set of the month to the klub meeting.

This klub will meet alternately between the third Friday (6:00pm) or third Sunday (1:00pm) of each month. (i.e. Friday 2/17, Sunday 3/18, Friday 4/20, Sunday 5/20, etc.)

Registrations for Scramp Klub are due 2 weeks prior to the scheduled meeting.  You can join month by month or register for a 6 month subscription at any time.

Current registrations are for February 16 and are due no later than February 2.  The Stamp Set of the Month is Flower Fest .

This is a BYOA (Bring Your Own Adhesive).  It is also recommended you bring your clear mount blocks.  If you plan to stay for the optional crop, be sure to bring your photographs and paper supplies for any other layouts you care to put together.

I'm looking forward to adding this awesome crop day to our list of Kelli's Korner Klasses and Klubs!
