Getting ready for Christmas without a Christmas Stamp Set

Yes, I know.  Nobody wants to think about Christmas, much less, winter at this point in time.  I feel like we've barely even had a summer!  That said, it really is time for the crafty-hearted folks to start thinking about their holiday crafting.  Every year around the middle of December I find myself rushing to get my holiday cards MADE and out the door.  I always say, "Next year I'm going to get these done early."  THIS YEAR is my year. (Never heard that from a Cubs fan before, have ya?)

On Saturday, August 16 and Monday, August 18 I will be offering the "Getting ready for Christmas without a Christmas stamp set" class.  Join me to make 20 cards, all holiday themed, without using one single stamp that comes in a "holiday themed" stamp set.

These cards are quick and easy, appropriate for all skill levels, but each has a certain zing that catches your attention and gets that little "ah ha" moment!

More Blendabilities are on the way!

On August 1, six more Stampin' Blendabilities colors will be available to YOU! Mambo Melon, Night of Navy, Calypso Coral, Wisteria Wonder, Smoky Slate and Crumb Cake join the Blendabilities family.  I'm a Blendies addict!  I'm having so much fun moving and blending colors with these amazing markers.  And now that I've gotten my hands on my FAVORITE Stampin' Up! color (Wisteria Wonder) there's no telling what I'm going to color next!!

I worked this card for a couple of days, adding more flowers here and there, picking and choosing just the right shade for each flower. I'm super pleased with how it turned out.

The flowers come from the hostess set I Like You.  It's a perfect line art companion to do some great coloring with your Blendabilities. I also decided to pull out my Simply Pressed Clay to make some matching flower accessories for my card. Blendabilities seem to color on dried clay really well. I colored my clay with Wisteria Wonder and used my Blendabilities to add a little depth in the creases. I really like how they turned out.

If you want to learn more about what you can do with your Blendabilities, I invite you to join me for my next Blendabilities instructional on Thursday, August 21 at 7:00pm.  Visit my Meetup page to register.

Gorgeous Grunge in the Flower Patch

Every Saturday morning I meet one of my best girlfriends at our local farmers' market.  Our first stop every week is to the flower stand. (Actually, it's like stop 1.5 since we browse the beautiful fresh flowers as we wait for our coffee.)  There is something very calming about having fresh flowers in my living room each week. I don't know just what it is but if I miss a week of the market, I feel a little incomplete.

My last visit to the market flower patch inspired me to make the card from our very own Stampin' Up! Flower Patch. This is a new photopolymer stamp set being offered in the 2014-2015 Idea Book & Catalog.  It's a great 2-step stamp set, meaning, you stamp image over image (over image) to create multi colored, dimensional flowers.  The clear photopolymer stamps make it super easy to perfectly place your images without having to use a Stamp-A-Ma-Jig or other positioning tool.

Flower Patch also has a set of matching Framelits so you can cut out each of the flower pieces with ease (if that's your thing) and create lovely, layered flower images.

A couple things I did with this card that I think is pretty cool.  If you blow up the photo, you'll see that each flower has a matching rhinestone center. Stampin' Up! doesn't carry colored rhinestones. We do, however carry Stampin' Blendabilities which color our rhinestones beautifully! Simple, easy, matching accessories are in the house!  I'm teaching you this and 11 other cool Blendabilities techniques in August. Did you see my blog post?

Another addition on this card was Gorgeous Grunge.  I just can't leave well enough alone. The white space just wasn't doing it for me so, I got rid of it in an awesome way! I think Gorgeous Grunge has a place on just about every card, a little or a lot. It's just FUN!

Go out and visit your own local flower patch. I hope this card has inspired you to also play with your Flower Patch!!  Happy stampin'! Product List
